Research to find out whether there is an existing WebSphere User Group (WUG) in your area. Know where the nearest WUG is and contact them about your intentions - they may be closer than you think and want to expand to include your participation and your location. A list of local WUGs including description, contact and meeting information is found in the Find a User Group section of this site.
In cases where there is no local WUG in your specific area, it is useful to know where the closest WUGs are. You will find it worthwhile contacting them for information, assistance and to make them aware of your new WUG and it's activities.
Register Your New WUG
Register with Group Intelligence, the IBM contracted coordinator for the Global WebSphere User Groups. The central registration records your unique group details including information on your group's mission and leadership. You are also registered as the contact point for User Group initiatives, events, and future benefits. The registration also creates awareness of group locations, thus informing others of opportunities to establish new groups.
To register, please complete the "Request to Start a WebSphere User Group Questionnaire" and e-mail to: gwc@groupintelligence.com.
Upon receipt of your information Group Intelligence will contact you and subsequently post your information on WebSphere.org. An IBM liaison will also be assigned to your new group, if you do not already have one. As the WebSphere user group leader, you will be automatically notified when people join your user group. Please make sure to welcome every new member with a personalized email.
