German WUG represents the GWC at the European WebSphere Portal Technical Conference in Stuttgart, Germany.
Rainer Anglett, leader of the German WUG, operated a booth for the GWC at this recent conference. Rainer fielded questions from attendees from countries including the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia, introducing them all the GWC and its global networking capabilities. We look forward to their contributions, and are pleased to see the power of global networking in action!
The German WUG also met at the WebSphere Community Congress in Frankfurt. 86 attendees were present, and they used the opportunity to exchange, experiences, tips and tricks, and take in some technical presentations. The keynotes were delivered by Tom Rosamilia and Prof. Zimmermann from the University of Reutlingen. Everyone in attendance found it to be a rewarding conference, and look forward to more exciting activities from the GWUG.

Chicago WebSphere User Group - WindySphere
The fall WindySphere meeting was held September 29 at International Truck and Engine and it was a huge success!! We had over 75 attendees and 8 different sessions. We started the meeting with a 'Get On The Bus' presentation. This was an informative session on choosing the right enterprise service and provided a comparison of WebSphere ESB to MB to Process Server.
Following this 'big tent' session, we broke into three different tracks. The WebSphere track had an overview of WAS 6.1. It was followed by an afternoon roundtable discussion led by International Truck on shared WebSphere environments.
Our Workplace, Portal and Collaboration (WPLC) kicked off with a Workplace Forms presentation and demo. The afternoon sessions had demonstrations on Portal V6 and Portlet Factory.
Track three offered two sessions on general interest WebSphere family topics. The first was a presentation on WebSphere Commerce and how it plays into SOA. The second presentation provided a B2B update on WebSphere TX and the WebSphere Partner Gateway.
Overall, the feedback from users on this meeting has been very positive. Our thanks to International Truck and Engine for stepping up to host the meeting and the use of their wonderful facilities. The next WindySphere meeting will be held in late January or early February.
The WebSphere user groups are headed by volunteers who are committed to the use and advancement of the WebSphere family of products.
