Impact 2008 in Las Vegas was a great success for the Global WebSphere Community. We worked closely with IBM to offer a variety of events for the Impact attendees and GWC members, which are highlighted below.

GWC Pedestal in the Solutions Center
Our pedestal in the Impact Solutions Center drew many visitors. We featured our collaborative video interviews from many of the WUG Leaders. Keep an eye out for the video on WS.org.

We also distributed our popular WebSpherian-branded pedometers; very useful for people walking miles from their hotel rooms to the conference!

WUG Leaders - we'd love for you to send us more videos! We look forward to creating a video library of interviews with you and your members from around the world. Contact Burke Lesher for more details if you are interested in contributing: burke.lesher@groupintelligence.com

Meet the Experts Session
GWC Meet the Experts Podcast IMPACT 2008
Listen to a podcast from IMPACT 2008, a special session for GWC members! This panel fielded questions from the audience on WebSphere technology and trends.
GWC User Group Leaders and Members congregated Wednesday evening to discuss an overview of the Community and its overall direction. The presentation can be found here if you wish to use it during your own User Group meetings.

We had some exciting raffles as well - the Madison WUG won the raffle for Groups with 5 or more members in attendance. Their prize was a Nintendo Wii gaming system which will be available at an upcoming meeting.

GWC Member Magnus Pảlsson from Sweden won the raffle for GWC members in attendance at the session itself. Congratulations Magnus!

Do you want to influence the direction of the Global WebSphere Community? Here is your chance! Join the Movers and Shakers Board! - an Advisory Council to the GWC

Purpose:
  • Provide ideas and suggestions to improve GWC value and vibrancy
  • Provide input and feedback to WebSphere product teams, representing the perspectives of the greater GWC community
  • Improve GWC Communications to our audience
